Dr. Johann Bornholdt earned his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Konstanz, where his research focuses on data models, query languages, and systems for trajectory data. He develops formal spatio-temporal predicate logics and prototype database systems that treat trajectory data as first-class citizens and support efficient querying across multiple data sources.
He completed his bachelor's degree in computer science at HTWG Konstanz and his master’s degree at the University of Konstanz. After his master’s, he worked in industry at SEITENBAU GmbH in Konstanz, contributing to software projects for clients including Deutsche Telekom and the German Bundestag. As part of his doctoral work, he designs and evaluates specialized trajectory database technologies that enable advanced analytics for application domains such as mobility and environmental sciences.
Johann joined TIDIT at the beginning of 2026 as the Junior Research Group Leader in the Data Systems research group.
