Ostschweizer Digitalisierungs- & KI-Barometer

The Thurgau Institute for Digital Transformation (TIDIT) has launched a new Digitalization and AI Study to evaluate how far companies in Eastern Switzerland have progressed on their digital transformation journey — and how they compare nationally.

Starting from November 5, 2025, the study will survey businesses in the Cantons of Thurgau, St. Gallen, Appenzell Innerrhoden, and Appenzell Ausserrhoden and will provide a comprehensive picture of digital maturity across key areas such as employee training, strategy, processes, products, communication, and artificial intelligence

This recurring annual study will also serve as a long-term Digitalization Trend Barometer, making digital progress in Eastern Switzerland measurable over time.

Scientific Quality & Data Protection

The data collection will be carried out by the independent Swiss research institute DemoSCOPE AG.

Each company will receive a confidential participation link and password, ensuring secure and anonymous data handling. All results are analyzed in aggregated and anonymized form — no conclusions can be drawn about individual companies or persons.

Participation in the survey takes around 10-15 minutes, and results are provided immediately upon completion in the form of a graphical summary of your digital positioning.

Partners and Support

The study is supported by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Thurgau (IHK Thurgau) and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce St.Gallen-Appenzell (IHK St.Gallen-Appenzell).

Together with these partners, TIDIT aims to create a solid, data-driven foundation for understanding and strengthening the digital competitiveness of Eastern Switzerland’s economy.

“Digital transformation is not an end in itself — it determines the future viability of our regional economy,” says Dr. Caroline Obolensky, CEO of TIDIT. “This study will, for the first time, make the state of digitalization in Eastern Switzerland visible and identify untapped potential.”

“With the Eastern Switzerland Digital & AI Barometer, we are creating a reliable data base to make digital maturity transparent,” adds Jérôme Müggler, Director of IHK Thurgau. “For small and medium-sized enterprises in particular, knowing where they stand in digital transformation is key to remaining competitive.”

Markus Bänziger, Director of IHK St.Gallen-Appenzell, emphasizes:
“The study provides facts instead of gut feeling — it shows our members where they stand digitally and where there is still potential to improve their processes.”
